3:47 "Price is fake". Yes. Back in the mid 90s I bought a computer mouse for about US$400 in today's money. And before you talk about economies of scale, the factories were churning out millions of them back then. So price is fake.

You talked about excessive information in your proposal that you no longer include. I had an experience in my computer business where I practically itemized everything that needed to be done and what it would cost. The potential customer took my proposal and shopped it out. Yeah, after that I would only reveal the itemized list in the actual contract they are going to sign and they don't get a copy in advance. And I quit separating the prices from the project unless like you, they are modules that can be independently accepted or rejected or postponed so priority work gets done first. I could tell you about the best $2,000 I ever actually lost in business, but it's the wrong category, LOL I'll be watching you two.

great submissions! some real pieces of art. in my opionion the right project won. it is beautifully done. Maybe not the most complex one, but often times a good idea wins not the technically most complex project.

For those who want the formula shearing, jump to 4:45 in the video. Decent content. I understand ads on your channel help fund your channel. However, I'm not a fan of ads over 5 seconds and I'm sure I'm not the only one. If and when the ads are reduced to the 5 seconds, I can see myself returning to watch your content. If not, I'd likely won't return. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way.

I need your help. Can you please answer this one question for me? Do you guys do juice grooves or handles with a router in any of your boards, or do you see it as unnecessary? Personally i live juice grooves and handles in my own cutting boards, but making them in the boards I create to sell is an absolute nightmare. I'm just wondering if its worth it to do them. I qould genuinely appreciate your response and feedback on this. Thank you!

Great advice. Im at the very beginning of my business journey. I'm still a beginner woodworker. Been doing it for 2 years. I had to leave my kob a couple months ago and am trying to break into the business side of it now. I started out making Carpenter bee traps. Sold 30 or so. Sold a laundry organizer to my brother in law. The last person that bought some bee traps wanted to buy bluebird houses at the rate of 5-10 per week til she has bought 100. Im in my second week of this. Still trying to find more things i can make and sell to keep getting my name out there

Business advice. I just ran a campaign for local District Judge in my community. Everyone wanted to tell me what I "oughtaa do". If I had unlimited funds and time, about half of it would have been good. As it was, almost all of it was trash advice.

Laguna tools suck, even their expensive CNC machines are just rebranded Chinese crap, and their support is non-existent. You pay a premium for cheap Chinese equipment with the Laguna name on it, avoid them at all costs.

I think this is great advice (and a $250 daily rate is actually pretty low). I think where it's gets tricky is when you're talking about those super custom, labor-of-love type woodworking projects. It is more difficult to apply this formula successfully due to the extensive hours those projects take, and in order to be profitable with them you really need to be selling to a niche customer base... in other words rich people.

  • @poetryandcanvas

STOP SCROLLING HERE AND YOU'RE WELOCME! --> don't get a pop-up tent - literally everyone has these at craft fairs. Y'all are good at BS-ing people. Make what you like to make, keep it small, simple, and attractive to the eye. Be professional, not overly friendly, with customers. Put your table and stuff out of your tent to catch their attention. Let them know you are available should they have any questions. You will not be rich from doing this the first year, but later on, it will become more manageable and easy to do. The profit will come if you are serious about it. LASTLY! Make friends with the other sellers at these fairs.. they are not your competition, but your ally. Trust me.

I'd LOVE some suggestions for problems that could be solved with products made with a cnc router. Honestly, I just can't seem think of any. Any help would be MUCH, MUCH appreciated!! I am disabled and therefore forced to TRY and make it on $943.00 per month! Most of that goes to rent. Not much left after THAT! I have a GREAT need to come up with a way to bring in some additional income! Thanks in advance fir ANY suggestions!

The way you do is inefficient. I take a 2x4 a little taller than the pallet is and place under the board you are trying to get off. It raises the pallet off the ground by a couple inches. Take a sledge hammer and hit the cross piece close to the board you are trying to get off. It raises the board up high enough to get a pry bar uner the board to get it off. This way can use the whole board not just part of it.

I get that you're trying to specialise in the mechanics of running a small business rather than how to do woodworking. It makes sense given the number of trained woodworkers with UA-cam channels. Honestly though, I watched dozens of your videos specifically because you weren't always making handcut dovetails and making hand planes look effortless to set up. You have a brilliant niche in making furniture items using powered tools, without a joinery background. You're self-taught and using simplified methods to build. That is SO relatable. The videos where you show the building process are so much better than these. Please at least experiment with a couple of simple builds, just to see how the viewing figures compare. I've gone from watching everything you put out to watching nothing, in the past year or so. Please go back to building.
